The Sandy Bay Regatta is one of the longest running regattas in the world. Now in its 174' year, like many regattas, it came from working seafarers testing their skills against their mates. So, sports like sailing and rowing became the main drawcards for the public.

Our Regatta will be a significantly constrained event this year, however due to great leadership from the City of Hobart - and indeed continued and much needed support from Wrest Point and our other loyal sponsors - the 2022 Regatta will again provide a wonderful atmosphere for the community to enjoy.

The focus is on water activities from 8am until 2pm, with the introduction of an ocean swim race or adults and children. We also have our popular exhibition races and 'come and try' activities for patrons to enjoy. Plus, there will be roving entertainers, face painters and music throughout the day.

The City of Hobart Citizenship Ceremony will go ahead at 10.30am, and we look forward to celebrating the commitment of so many new Australians.

This year's Regatta will have COVID-19 safe plans in place and all participants, supporters and patrons will be asked to adhere to the instructions for community safety. In line with public health advice, we ask people who are feeling unwell not to attend.
